There are many Dermal Fillers on the market. Dr. Sellars chooses to use two of there dermal fillers which work effectively in different ways.
This treatment consists of a stabilized, acid, hyaluronic acid (which naturally occurs in humans), in the form of a crystal-clear gel. This gel smoothes wrinkles and folds or gives contour.
The Anti-Wrinkle Gel Filler is a stable, bio-degradable and a non-animal acid, that has no risk of transmitting disease or eliciting an allergic reaction in patients who are sensitive to common foods, such as beef, chicken or eggs.
- Nasolabial lines (smile lines)
- Oral commissures (smokers lines above upper lip)
- Or for Lip augmentation / enhancement (enlargement).
The gel comes in a pre-measured syringe, which is injected directly underneath the wrinkle to be treated. The volume from the gel lifts and plumps out the line or wrinkle thus making it appear smoother and less obvious.
When used for lip enhancement, the gel simply gives extra volume to the lips whether it be just in the lip-line or the entire body of the lip. By adding extra volume to the lip-line, clients report that “lipstick bleeding” improves greatly.
Each treatment lasts between 6-12 months, with patients averaging 8 months with each treatment.
There are lines which are caused by the repeated action of a facial muscle, lines which seem to disappear from the face when we are expressionless, but reappear when the expression, such as frowning or squinting is produced. These lines are therefore not caused by the skin but the muscle underneath manipulating the skin, causing lines. Therefore, correction of these lines would involve weakening the muscles that cause them. There are some anti-wrinkle injections that have this affect.
